How to Create an account for GCash: A Beginner’s Guide

The Gcash app works by converting your smartphone into a virtual wallet. GCash has transformed the way people in the Philippines conduct financial transactions. It only takes a few taps on a smartphone for Globe and TM subscribers to quickly pay bills, send and receive money, and operate other transactions virtually anytime and anywhere.

Except for card application, cash out, and withdrawal, all GCash services are free of charge. For non-tech savvy users, here is a handy guide on how to register for GCash.

How to register GCash account

Before you can use the mobile service, you must first create a GCash account. The registration process is quick and simple. It is possible to do so using the GCash mobile app. Of course, there are other methods for registering. However, using the app is the most suitable way.

Download and install the Gcash app

The GCash is available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Step 1: Get the GCash mobile app and install it.

Step 2: Provide your phone number. Then press the “Next” button.

Step 3: A 6-digit authentication code will be sent to your phone. Copy and paste the code, then press the “Submit Code” button.

Step 4: Enter your personal information, such as your name, date of birth, address, and email address. Select “Submit.”

Step 5: Make a four-digit mobile PIN. This PIN will be used in all GCash app transactions.

Step 6: Read the Terms and Conditions before clicking “Submit.”

Step 7: Tap “Proceed to Login,” enter your PIN, and begin using your GCash account.

How to register GCash online via the website

Step 1: Go to the GCash sign-up page.

Step 2: Enter your phone number here. When you click “Next,” a 6-digit authentication code will be sent to your phone. Enter the code and then click “Submit Code.”

Step 3: Read and scroll through the Terms and Conditions before clicking “Accept.”

Step 4: Fill out the form on the next page and click “Submit.”

Step 5: Make a four-digit mobile PIN.

When you finish the process, you will be given a QR code to scan in order to download the GCash app.

How to verify your GCash account

Once you’ve completed the registration process, you’ll need to verify your account in order to access all of the useful features and services.

Step 1: Sign in to the GCash app using your account information.

Step 2: Locate the menu bar in the upper left corner. Tap it and then select “Verify Now.”

Step 3: Select “Get Fully Verified” and then click “Next.”

Step 4: Before tapping “Next,” select a valid ID and take a photo of it.

Step 5: Tap “Next,” and then take a selfie.

Step 6: Enter all of the required information. Check that everything is correct.

Step 7: Tick the box to accept the Terms and Conditions. Select “Confirm.”

Step 8: Please allow 30 minutes for your application to be reviewed.

How to put money in GCash wallet

You can transfer money using your bank’s app or through over-the-counter transactions. Remittances are another option.

How to Cash-In through partner banks

You can also connect GCash to your banking apps. GCash is compatible with the majority of banking apps. However, only RCBC, UnionBank, and BPI apps have no transaction fees. Other banking apps will charge you P10 to P25 per transaction.

Step 1: Select “My Linked Accounts” from the menu bar.

Step 2: Select the bank to which you want to connect and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 3: After connecting your banking app, go to the dashboard and select “Cash-In.”

Step 4: Navigate to the “Online Bank” section and select your linked bank.

Step 5: Enter the desired amount of money and press “Confirm.”

Step 6: Your bank will send you an OTP via SMS. Enter the code. Select “Submit.”

Step 7: Check your GCash balance after receiving the confirmation text.

How to Cash-In through Remittance

At the moment, GCash’s two partners are Western Union and MoneyGram.

Step 1: Launch the app. Tap “Cash-In,” then select the “Remittance” tab.

Step 2: Select either Western Union or MoneyGram as your payment method.

Step 3: Enter the monetary value and the reference number. While Western Union requires a 10-digit number, MoneyGram only requires an 8-digit number.

Step 4: After receiving the confirmation text, tap “Next.” You can now check your GCash balance.

How to withdraw money

Via GCash Mastercard

What you need to do is go to the nearest ATM and use your GCash card just like any other ATM card. It is important to note that each withdrawal will cost P20. If you are traveling outside of the Philippines, the fee rises to P150.

Step 1: From the GCash dashboard, select “Bank Transfer.”

Step 2: Choose the bank from which you want to withdraw your funds. Convenience fees are waived for partner banks.

Step 3: Enter the monetary value. You must fill out the banking information. Select “Send Money.”

Step 4: Double-check your transfer details before clicking “Confirm.”

Step 5: Check your bank account after receiving the confirmation text.
